Case 149:   Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC)

Diagnostic Category:

Clinical Presentation:

48 year old man with palpable abdominal mass.

CT: Regenerative nodule: palpable

Imaging Findings:

Peripheral regenerative nodule anteriorly in segment 4A in a patient with primary sclerosing cholangitis: The central portal venous vessel is typical and allows this regenerative nodule to be distinguished from a neoplasm ("vessel penetration sign"). Also the enhancement equal to the remainder of the parenchyma throughout all contrast phases characterizes the nodule as part of the hepatic parenchyma.
