Case 166:   Steatosis / Steatohepatitis

Diagnostic Category:

Clinical Presentation:

58 year old woman with incidental finding in the left liver.

CT: Geographic steatosis in the left lobe

Imaging Findings:

CT shows larger areas of focal steatosis in the left lobe along the border of the left and right lobar vascular territories as well as along the left portal venous system.

Note "vessel penetrations sign", as portal and hepatic veins transgress the fatty liver portions, which is a sign of a benign pathology, but which has to be distinguished from encasement of  vessels by a malignant process.
