37 year old man with incidental finding in liver
MR: Focal sparing in segment 3, typical
MR shows steatotic liver with a large area of fat sparing in segment 3: opposed-phase image demonstrates diffuse hypointensity except in an area of sparing in segment 3, which is hyperintense when compared to the fatty parenchyma. This location of fatty sparing is typically a result of third inflow from the gastroduodenal veins, replacing portions of the sinusoids. Subcapsular fat sparing in segment 4B seen on CT is not demonstrated on these MR images.
