Case 192:   Focal Nodular Hyperplasia (FNH)

Diagnostic Category:

Clinical Presentation:

35 year old woman with diarrhea found to have an incidental mass on ultrasound.

MR: Typical, comparing Gd-BOPTA and Gd-EOB-DTPA

Imaging Findings:

Lobulated FNH in segment 4a with strong arterial phase enhancement on post contrast T1w fat-saturated sequence.  The conspicuity of the FNH decreases on the post contrast portal venous phase. Follow-up at the same institution was done with two different hepatobiliary agents (Gd-EOB-DTPA and Gd-BOPTA).  On the hepatobiliary phases the FNH has increased signal (Gd-EOB-DTPA) or is nearly isointense to liver (Gd-BOPTA).  No central scar is evident.

Biopsy performed to exclude neuroendocrine metastasis confirmed FNH.
