Case 199:   Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC)

Diagnostic Category:

Clinical Presentation:

77 year old man with incidental hepatic mass on CT angiography performed for evaluation of abdominal aortic aneurysm.

CT: Fatty variant

Imaging Findings:

CT demonstrates cirrhosis and a large HCC with intratumoral fat (arrow on unenhanced image) in the right lobe that is predominantly hypovascular.

On the arterial phase series there is a hyperenhancing nodule along the lateral aspect of the HCC (arrowhead) with washout on the equilibrium phase (arrowhead).

The small central scar is better seen on MRI.
