Case 212:   Hemangioma

Diagnostic Category:

Clinical Presentation:

35 year old woman with enlarging liver mass on ultrasound performed to evaluate periumbilical pain (not shown). Images from CT done three years earlier are shown.

CT: Following blood pool enhancement, otherwise atypical

Imaging Findings:

CT shows two hemangiomas: The larger subcapsular one demonstrates blood pool density on this portal venous phase image, but is otherwise atypical, as the enhancement does not follow any typical pattern.

The second smaller hemangioma has the typical bright dot sign.

Select MR of the same case done years later for other reasons, showing unexpected evolution and growth of both resection proven hemangiomas.
