Case 235:   Cholangiocarcinoma

Diagnostic Category:

Clinical Presentation:

51 year old man with chronic hepatitis C infection. Screening CT revealed a lesion in the right hepatic lobe.

MR: Early ring enhancement, Gd-EOB-DTPA

Imaging Findings:

MR with Gd-EOB-DTPA shows biopsy proven well-differentiated cholangiocarcinoma in segment 5 with typical early peripheral ring enhancement. However the majority of the mass is hypovascular.

Hepatobiliary phase shows relative hypointensity of the mass when compared to surrounding cirrhotic liver parenchyma. Note central hypointensity centrally and moderate peripheral ring-like intensity on T2.
