Case 27:   Cholangiocarcinoma

Diagnostic Category:

Clinical Presentation:

65 year old man with severe intrahepatic biliary dilation.

CT: Mixed Cholangiocarcinoma and Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Imaging Findings:

Multiphase CT shows marked intrahepatic biliary dilation secondary to ill defined central cholangiocarcinoma with typical hypervascular enhancement on arterial phase; prolonged enhancement on equilibrium phase represents desmoplastic stroma reaction. A second mass is located is segment VI, with typical enhancement pattern for hepatocellular carcinoma, demonstrating hypervascularity in arterial phase and hypodensity on equilibrium phase (wash out).
