Case 334: Intrabiliary Mucin Producing Neoplasia (IMPN)

Diagnostic Categories:

Clinical Presentation:

44 year old man with elevated alkaline phosphatase.

MR: Intrabiliary Mucin Producing Neoplasia (IMPN): Biliary type

Imaging Findings:

Contrast enhanced MR shows intrabiliary mucin producing neoplasms (IMPN) of the right hepatic duct with massive dilatation of the right sided intrahepatic ductal system.

Contrast enhanced sequences show enhancing papillary excrescences along the walls of the ducts representing the tumors.

Markedly dilated ducts in this type of tumor is secondary to mucin production.
