Case 344:   Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC)

Diagnostic Category:

Clinical Presentation:

64 year old man with history of chronic hepatitis C.

CT: Typical, without equilibrium phase

Imaging Findings:

CT demonstrates cirrhosis with HCC: a subtle area of ill-defined arterial enhancement in segment 5 with very subtle washout on the portal venous phase as marked by arrows. There is a small central hypodensity, representing necrosis or scar. This was further evaluated with MR, which shows more typical criteria for HCC on the equilibrium phase.
