Case 70:   Hemangioma (infantile)

Clinical Presentation:

11 week old girl diagnosed in utero with a large vascular liver lesion, with subsequent high output heart failure and Kasabach-Meritt syndrome (anemia, thrombocytopenia and consumptive coagulopathy).

US: Hypervascular, with diffuse arterio-venous shunts

Imaging Findings:

Infantile hepatic hemangioma on ultrasound imposes as a large  solid-cystic mass within the left lobe. Color Doppler reveals numerous arteriovenous shunts within the hemangioma.
