Case 71: Hemangioma (infantile)
18 day old boy found to have a liver mass on prenatal ultrasound.
CT: Peripheral nodular enhancement
Contrast enhanced CT shows typical cavernous hemangioma (formerly: hemangioendothelioma) abutting the gallbladder, predominantly within segment V. The mass demonstrates one dominant component (arrows) and several smaller peripheral, rounded enhancing components (arrowheads), in an otherwise low density matrix. Note small central lucencies within the peripheral enhancing components.
